Tae Kwon Do is the Korean Martial Art of self defence and is the national sport of Korea as well as being part of the South Korean school curriculum. Translated Tae means kick or to strike with the foot, Kwon means fist or to strike with the hand, Do means discipline or art. Enlightenment is the ultimate aim of Taekwondo, through rigorous physical training, students of the art seek to improve themselves physically, mentally and spiritually.

Taekwondo caters for the many various types of students that come to train, from self defence, self confidence, cardio vascular fitness to much more. Adults and Children from the age of five years old are welcome to start training. The practice of this art is not limited to individuals who are in the best physical condition. Many students today begin their study of Tae Kwon Do at an advanced age and yet are still able to develop into powerful martial artists.

Master Mary Sellen started training in WTF Taekwondo in 1985 in Ewest Taekwondo club, London under Master K. Lye 6th Dan. Mary attained her first Degree Black Belt in 1990 at the Whitchurch sports center in Bristol graded by grand master Kim Yong Ho. Since then Mary has attained her 5th degree black belt making her a Mater of the art . Master Mary Sellen has also taught in Portugal, trained in Hapkido, Krav-Maga, Aiki-Jutsu, and Ken jutsu traditional sword school, and was elected into the London International Hall of fame in 2007.
